Frequently Asked Questions

We suggest that your child attends the outdoor nursery for a minimum of 2 days per week. This will allow time for your child to become familiar and comfortable with the staff, routines and other children at the setting. We are happy to discuss this further with you to consider your child’s particular needs.

Yes we will accept these if you are eligible. We also accept all childcare vouchers.

Yes, we will encourage children to spend time outdoors every day. Being outside and experiencing all seasons and all weathers provides an ever-changing environment which enriches and inspires the children’s learning experiences. Through this experience, the children build resilience and learn how to look after themselves in all weathers. When children are dressed appropriately, they will play and be happy whatever the weather. This is why it is vital that children MUST be dressed appropriately. We have put together a separate kit list to support you to make sure your child is appropriately dressed in all weathers.

We also have a building so children can choose to have shelter and enjoy our indoor space and indoor play equipment on those really bad weather days.

Yes, children will be given the chance to rest whenever they need it. We have a sleeping area inside our building but children can also choose to sleep in a sling, hammock or on a roll mat with a blanket outdoors.

Yes, we provide eco-friendly nappies and wipes. However, you may provide your own nappies if you prefer to use a particular brand.

We have 4 toilet cubicles inside our building as well as an additional toilet near out adventure playground for the children to use. We also have a hand washing station with warm water outdoors and indoors.

Kit List

The children are outside in all weathers so we encourage parents to buy good footwear and waterproofs and to dress children in layers for the winter. The clothes your children wear when attending Go Outdoors will determine their enjoyment of the sessions so here is a bit of guidance.

Winter

Our Nursery & Pre-School children will be provided with a waterproof puddle suit once they have signed up.

Waterproof dungarees and jacket with lots of base layers under (leggings, cotton tops, polo necks). Ideally not hoodies as they bulk up the back of the coat and will not fit over a woolly hat. Wellies (try and get neoprene lined boots for added warmth) with thick socks (and a spare pair in their bag – just in case!) Hats should cover the ears and gloves should be waterproof.

Summer

Children should have sun cream and sun hats in their back pack during the summer months.

Children can wear leggings/thin trousers and long sleeved tops or you can choose to send children in shorts and t-shirts. Sandals are dangerous in woodland as children can trip over roots with the front of the sandal and open toes can get hurt so we recommend trainers.

Lunch & Meals

Our term-time nursery and pre-school children will bring in a packed lunch every day for the full day session.

Our holiday club children have the option to bring in a packed lunch or for a full day hot meals with pudding will be provided inclusive of fees.

All breakfast and afternoon tea is included in the before and after school club fees.

PLEASE NOTE We provide fruit, snack and water throughout the day for all children during all sessions as well as campfire cooking treats as part of the campfire experience. We can cater for all dietary requirements but please note we are a nut free setting. For a copy of our latest menu please contact us.
